Tracking Site Statistics

You can gather data about your website's ability to attract and retain visitors by using a third-party analytics tool such as Google Analytics. You do not need any technical knowledge to add an analytics tool to your Site Builder site. To add an analytics tool, you just need to copy a script provided by the analytics tool vendor, and paste it into the Site Statistics page in Site Builder. When you publish your site, the tracking code will be activated.

ClosedWhy should I consider adding a third-party analytics tool to my site?

Analytics tool can give you insight into who is visiting your site. You can also find out what types of information they are seeking. Some of the information that is gathered includes:

  • How many people visit your site
  • How many times visitors view specific Web pages.
  • How much time people spend on your site
  • What browser software your site visitors use

Some of the additional features often included with third-party analytics tools are:

  • Ability to track how visitors got to your site (for example, via a Google search, by clicking a link from another website, or by directly typing your web address)
  • Keyword and search terms tracking
  • Sophisticated reporting functions
  • The location of your visitors

Before attempting to add a third-party analytics tool to your site, review the documentation provided by the analytics vendor. In particular, you should locate the code snippet that you must paste into Site Builder. Also, the instructions should provide information about any special configuration that is required for the code. The vendor may specify that the code should be placed into either the website header or body.
