Adding Scripts with the Webmaster Tools Page

You can add functionality to your site by inserting JavaScript, HTML, or other code snippets on the Webmaster Tools page. For example, adding a meta tag to your site could provide useful information for search engines that could improve your page ranking. Other scripts can provide search engines with geo-location information, which can also help customers in your area find you when they are searching. There are many precreated scripts available on the Internet, or, if you are experienced in writing scripts, you can write your own.

Important: Applying scripts to your page is considered an advanced function. Inserting a script incorrectly could prevent your site from loading. For this reason, we do not recommend that you add scripts to your page unless you have considerable experience working with codes and scripts.

Keep in mind the following when inserting scripts:

To add scripts to your site, do the following:

  1. Log in to your Site Builder account.
  2. Click Site Design > Webmaster Tools on the menu bar.
  3. Enter or paste the script into the appropriate text box.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Click Preview to ensure that the script is not causing unforeseen issues. Although the effects of the script may not be visible or functional in the preview, if the script is preventing your site from loading, this fact will be evident in the preview.
  6. Click Publish to update your site immediately.
