Selecting a Style for your Site

Site Builder provides site styles that you can use to create the layout of your site. The styles include predefined designs, colours, and headers that you can modify so the site better reflects your firm's image.

Tips

  • You can change the style of your site at any time. However, changing the look of your Web site could confuse clients and diminish brand recognition. For this reason, we recommend that you limit the number and frequency of major design changes.
  • If you had previously selected options relating to the banner and icon options for the items on the Modules menu, your selections might be overridden if you change your site style. The selections are only overridden when the new site style you select includes default options for those banners and icons. We recommend that you use the template defaults because they have been designed to match the overall look of your site. If you prefer to use the choices you previously selected, you must reselect them.

To select a style for your site, do the following:

  1. Log in to your Site Builder account.
  2. Click Select Site Style on the menu bar. The top of the page displays a preview of the selected site styles. As you select options, this image will update to reflect your selections.
  3. Select the desired options on each of the following tabs to modify your site style.
    • Styles. This tab displays thumbnail previews of the available styles. Styles control the layout of your site. Click a thumbnail to apply that style to your site. After selecting a style, use the colour swatch at the top of the tab to select the colour palette for the site. Most, but not all, layouts have three colour schemes to choose from.

    Notes:

    • If needed, you can filter the style list by selecting one of the following options beneath the thumbnails:
      • All Styles. Displays all available styles.
      • Favorites. Displays only the styles that you have identified as favorites. To identify a style as a favorite, click the Closedheart icon on its thumbnail.
      • Featured. Displays only the styles that are mobile-responsive. If you use a mobile-responsive style, your Web site layout will adjust automatically to accommodate different screen sizes.
    • If you select a non-responsive site style, you can still accommodate mobile devices by selecting the Enable mobile site check box. Selecting this box creates a simple mobile site that will display when visitors view your site on a mobile device. If this check box is not available, then the style you have selected is already mobile-responsive.
    • Headers. Select a stock image that will display at the top of your site.

Note: You can use a custom image in the header if you prefer. If you have already added a custom header, it will display here. You will not be able to revert to a Wolters Kluwer CCH-provided header until you delete your custom header. See Adding or Updating Your Site Branding Information for more information.

    • Navigation. Select the style of navigation buttons to use on your site. Most, but not all, templates have three styles to choose from.
  4. Click Preview to see what your site will look like when your changes are applied. The preview opens in a new different browser tab or window.
  5. Click Publish to immediately update your website, or click Next to continue to the Firm Info overview page.

Note: Changes you make in Site Builder are not applied to your Web site until you publish the updates.
