Robert M. Jensen, CPA
Managing Partner
Robert Jensen is Managing Partner of HJ & Associates, as well as Partner in Charge of the Tax Department
and a founder of the Firm. He has over 27 years of experience in public and private accounting which
includes a wide range of tax and accounting services for individuals and businesses.
Robert graduated in 1982 from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a
Bachelor of Science in Finance. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants
(UACPA).
Robert has 2 years experience as a Chief Financial Officer and 5 years experience as an Instructor of
Business Development at a local community school. He has also served for several years on various
committees with the UAPCA.
S. Jeffrey Jones, CPA
Partner
Jeff Jones is an Audit Partner with over 17 years of experience in public and private accounting and is a
founding partner of the firm. Jeff’s audit emphasis is in publicly held companies and companies contemplating
going public. He specializes in complex equity and debt transactions, and has experience with companies
with foreign operations particularly China and Canada.
Jeff graduated in 1992 from the Southern Utah University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a
Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He also graduated from Southern Utah University in 1993 with a
Master of Accountancy. Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA).
Jeff holds a CPA license in several states besides Utah including: California, Florida, Idaho, Indiana,
Montana, and Washington. He is also serving on the UAPCA Accounting Issues Committee.
Bruce M. Kartchner, CPA.CITP
Partner
Bruce Kartchner is an Audit Partner with over 24 years of experience in public and private accounting and
joined our firm in October 2008. He has experience with clients in professional and financial services,
wholesale distribution, insurance, oil & gas, agriculture and transportation. Bruce provides audit and related
services to public companies and privately held companies. He has provided management advisory services
and has extensive experience in electronic and manual information systems.
Bruce graduated in 1985 from Brigham Young University with a Master of Accountancy. Bruce is a Certified
Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the
Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA).
Bruce holds a CPA license in the State of Utah. He is involved in local politics as a member of his city council
and serves as the city treasurer.
Kelly G. Purser, CPA
Partner
Kelly Purser is a Tax Partner with over 27 years of experience in public and private accounting and joined our
firm in October 2008. He has experience with professional, medical and financial services, manufacturing and
the construction industry. Kelly also has experience in auditing; and extensive experience in all types of
taxation including: individual, partnerships, corporations, trusts and estates, including income tax planning.
Kelly is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants (AICPA) and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA).
Kelly holds a CPA license in the State of Utah. He has been involved with Uptown Down’s organization, a
local non-profit organization supporting the Down Syndrome children in the Salt Lake area.
Charles D. Roe, CPA

Chuck Roe is an Audit Partner with over 33 years of experience in public and private accounting and joined
the firm in January 2002. Chuck has experience with clients in professional services, manufacturing,
distribution, software and mineral resources industries. He also has extensive experience in providing audit
and related services to public companies dealing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and other
regulators.
Chuck graduated in 1976 from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. Chuck is a
Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
(AICPA) and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA).
Chuck has 5 years experience as a Chief Financial Officer for two public companies. He was also in
management of a professional financial services company as well as practiced public accounting with an
international and several local firms. Chuck holds a CPA license in several states besides Utah including:
Nevada, Texas and Wyoming.
